WYLIE & SKENE JOINS VDM GROUP
The management team of Wylie & Skene (W&S) is proud to announce that after over 30 years as a private company, W&S has been acquired by VDM Group - a multidisciplinary consulting engineering and construction Group of Companies.
Why Merge?
The increased level of construction activity in the resources industry has provided an environment conducive to business growth. Like many organisations, W&S has grown to meet the demands of the industry. In order to leverage off recent successes, W&S require the organisational and financial benefits that a large publicly listed organisation can provide in the areas of design, documentation, staff recruitment, HR, IT and bonding facilities.
We have identified the benefits of a merger with a strategic partner for some time and have not taken the decision lightly. We have been a family run business for a long time, with core values of honesty, integrity, fairness, and ethical business practices and as such getting the right fit with the right organisation has been a high priority for our management team.
Why Choose VDM?
VDM Group meets the business and cultural criteria set by the W&S management team and will ensure the future; success and growth of W&S, quality customer service together with employee development and security.
The VDM philosophy involves taking successful independent companies and organising them to gain complimentary synergies within the Group yet maintaining their operational independence and management structure. The VDM Group currently comprises over 15 companies involved with;
  • design of civil, structural and marine works (Van Der Meer Consulting, Burchill VDM, Barlow Gregg VDM, Ewing VDM)
  • environmental engineering (Belleng VDM and EcOz VDM)
  • architectural design, project and asset management (Prism)
  • bulk earthworks, civil, mechanical and contract mining (Civmec)
  • commercial and residential building (Keytown Constructions)
  • steel fabrication (Complete Steel), and
  • production of building system materials (Hyparspace and Quikloc)
W&S fits well between Civmec and Keytown in the Group by bringing significant capability in the fields of design and construction of mobile plant maintenance workshop facilities, office, control rooms, accommodation and materials handling facilities for oil and gas, mining and government clients.
